QA Technical Manager

General Description of Duties

Under the general direction of the Quality Director, this individual will be responsible for managing American Fruits and Flavors (AFF) Quality Assurance (QA) related inquires concerns, and projects, to completion. The Quality Assurance Technical Manager will interface with direct reports, external and internal clients, and colleagues. This role serves as a general QA information resource and provides technical guidance on QA and QC practices. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company.

Essential Job Functions

Technical Support:

  1. Serve as the primary QA information resource for internal and external clients.
  2. Support the creation, execution, and maintenance of QA procedures.
  3. Provide timely QA guidance and solutions to internal and external clients.


Continuous Improvement:

  1. Serve as a primary investigator for product quality and food-safety related inquires or investigations.
  2. Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and areas for improvement. Implement corrective and preventive actions based on data insights.
  3. Lead initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve overall efficiency.

Compliance:

  1. Ensure that QA practices comply with regulatory, GFSI, and customer requirements.
  2. Provide QA support for external audits and inspections.
  3. Provide internal QA auditing support.
  4. Oversee the maintenance of approved specifications.

Administration and Communication:

  1. Lead and mentor assigned QA staff.
  2. Create and detailed reports and presentations.
  3. Lead discussions on QA topics.
  4. Provide training to personnel as needed.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor of Science degree in the natural sciences.
  2. Minimum of three years of Management experience.
  3. Minimum of five years QA experience in food manufacturing.
  4. HACCP certification.
  5. PCQI certification.
  6. Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  7. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  8. An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data.
  9. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  10. Must report to any company facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.

Compensation Range: Actual salary/hourly wages are determined upon a variety of factors such as level of experience, skills, education and /or certifications, and location.
